Torrential rains continue

 The number of persons affected by heavy rains has increased to 1,249,533 by 9.00 am on Monday (7th February 2011) according to the Disaster Management Centre and   11 persons lost their lives and 3 were missing.

 Of the affected persons 320,408 of 87,779 families are in 759 temporary IDPs camps in the affected districts. The highest number of affected persons has been reported in Batticaloa district where 144,896 are temporally sheltered 158 camps.  The Ministry of Disaster Management has released necessary allocation to all affected District Secretariats for proving emergency relief
