Department of Meteorology has taken measures to establish a modern Doppler weather radar system, which is utilized by many countries' in Gongala peak in Deniyaya area
This radar system with modern facilities will be a grate assistant to provide accurate weather forecasting on the features and density of rainfall and the instant heave rainfall received at different occasions.

Considering the timely need of providing accurate weather forecasting required for the country, a sum of Rs. 400 Mn has been granted for this system, and the results of this can be received by the middle of this year
